Thank you for visiting our Extended Help section.
The aim of this page is to provide enough information to ensure proper use of this site and proper playback/usage of files obtained from J-PD DC. Before e-mailing the Administrator for support, it is recommended to check this page for possible solutions to most problems that might arise with this site and its files. We have tagged different sections that adhere to different topics, which we hope will be convenient and easy. Best of luck!
.RAR Archives
. MKV Matroska Video
Standard Audio/Video Players
.RAR Archives
J-PD DC distributes all of its files in .RAR Archives. These are the equivalent to .ZIP Compressed Folders. Just like you would unZIP a Compressed Folder, you unRAR a RAR Archive in the same manner. We use these Archives in particular because they are generally unrecognized by Windows and Mac and will force the Download Option when you try to access them through the password-protected sections. Also, again just like a .ZIP File, these Archives have a smaller file size than the original loose files. You will end up spending a slightly smaller amount of time downloading them.
However, because these Archives are not defaults on Windows and Mac, you will probably have to download an additional program to unRAR them.
We recommend for FREE:
WinRAR for Windows
UnRarX for Mac
.MKV Matroska Video
J-PD DC distributes all of its video files as .MKV Video. These newer generation video files were created based on the Matroska Video Codec. These video files are superior to basic .AVI and .MPEG playback formats in that they offer multiple video, audio and subtitle tracks, just like a DVD. This is very beneficial to online publishers that want to give their fans the best viewing experience without the need of expensive and physical media. .MKV Video files are not openly supported by Windows and Mac video players unless one installs extended codecs to make them playable. However, many chose the more simple and safe option of downloading and installing a new video player made to play such files. Thankfully, the codec is now embedded into certain video players so the need for installing the codec separately is not usually needed anymore.
We strongly advice using a specific video player for .MKV video files--our suggestion below does not require a codec download, but certain Windows computers will refuse the results and so therefore we have provided a Codec Pack for Windows users.
We recommend for FREE:
Combined Community Codec Pack for Windows
VLC Player for Windows
VLC Player for Mac
Standard Audio/Video Players
J-PD DC distributes files that can be played by many standard Audio and Video players. These include players that are pre-installed onto Windows and Mac systems, but also ones that you may download later to play extended file formats that are commonly used on the Internet.
Below, we have recommended players that will play most recognizable files and special files designed for their players alone. Please take advantage of these suggestions.
We recommend for FREE:

Real Player for Windows
Winamp for Windows
QuickTime Player for Windows/Mac
